Project goals

The project aims to preserve Palazzo Giordani, a historic and architecturally important building in the heart of Brescia. The work is divided into two phases: the already completed roof restoration and the current study phase for a possible reconfiguration of the interior spaces, with the goal of improving usability while respecting the building’s original identity.

Site conditions

Before the intervention, the roof was in poor condition, with damaged tiles and low efficiency. The interior spaces are still arranged in an outdated and fragmented layout, not fully functional for current needs. Despite this, the building retains significant architectural value that deserves careful, non-invasive interventions.

Design approach

The roof work, already approved by the Superintendence, was carried out with a conservation approach and minimal impact. Complete removal of existing layers was avoided, favoring a solution compatible with the building’s condition. At the same time, a study is underway for a new internal layout to rationalize the spaces while respecting the historical identity.

Details and materials

The restoration involved removing and reusing the existing roof tiles, placed over a new waterproof panel installed on the original, damaged structure. The tiles were fixed with hooks to ensure stability. A permanent fall-protection system was also installed to guarantee safety during future maintenance.
